IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for site visitors? In which cases is it useful?
Every now and then you might need to block particular third parties from accessing your sites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and produce fake visits and traffic. There's also spammers that leave links to suspicious Internet sites as comments to site articles. This kind of things could drastically undermine your projects, as nobody likes to visit an Internet site with many fake comments, plus the increased traffic from both spammers and bots can create high load on the server in which your site is hosted, that can result in your site not working correctly. Among the most effective solutions in such cases is to block the IPs that create the fake traffic, in order to make sure that the visits to your Internet site are authentic.

IP Blocking in Cloud Web Hosting
If you have a
cloud web hosting account with our company and you want to block one or a number of IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a rather simple interface, you'll be able to restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete this is to log in to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You simply won't need to do anything challenging if you'd like to block a whole network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed within the same section, so you will be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with just a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our
semi-dedicated server accounts feature a really simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that will permit you to restrict individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your websites with justa couple of mouse clicks and you won't have any issues to achieve that even if that's your first hosting account. When you navigate to the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you'll just need to select the domain or subdomain in question from a drop-down list, then enter the IP address within a box that you will see there and you will be ready. To prohibit the access for a whole network, you need to leave one or more octets blank. For instance, if you type 123.123. and don't type anything inside the third and fourth positions, our server shall deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
